Primary school reptile workshops - curriculum-aligned and classroom-ready

Trusted by primary schools across England and Wales

We deliver calm, welfare-first reptile workshops for primary schools across England and Wales. Sessions are designed to support curriculum learning without disruption or spectacle, and to work smoothly within real classrooms.

Workshops follow a clear, structured format that fits naturally into the school day. We arrive with time to set up calmly and establish clear boundaries before pupils are introduced. Sessions begin by setting expectations around behaviour, consent, and respectful observation, creating a focused learning environment from the outset.

Learning is guided through discussion and close observation, with questions encouraged and pacing designed to support understanding rather than excitement. Participation is always optional, and observation is a valid and respected way to engage. Sessions end with a clear close, allowing pupils to transition easily back into their day.

Animal welfare sits at the centre of everything we do. Animals are carefully selected for educational settings, handling is limited and purposeful, and no child is ever pressured to interact. All facilitators are DBS-checked, risk assessments are available on request, and workshops are delivered in line with school safeguarding expectations.

CASE STUDY: Ysgol y Castell

Curriculum-aligned workshops · Primary school setting

Ysgol Y Castell invited Scaly Safari into the classroom to deliver hands-on animal workshops designed to support their science curriculum. The sessions were carefully structured to balance clear teaching with safe, well-managed animal encounters, ensuring that learning remained the focus throughout.

Each workshop began with guided discussion, observation, and age-appropriate explanation, allowing pupils to build understanding before meeting the animals themselves. This approach helped create an atmosphere that was curious and engaged, without becoming overwhelming.

The children responded with enthusiasm and confidence, asking thoughtful questions and showing genuine interest in the animals and their adaptations. Teachers noted that even pupils who were initially hesitant felt able to take part at their own pace, whether through observation or closer interaction.

"We were absolutely thrilled with our recent visit from Scaly Safari, who spent two mornings at our school delivering interactive, engaging, and educational sessions to seven different classes. The experience was carefully planned to ensure both the welfare of the animals and the best possible learning opportunities for the children.

We cannot fault Scaly Safari in any way and would 100% book them again. If you’re looking for a high-quality, well-organised, and child-friendly animal encounter, we highly recommend them!” - Teacher, Ysgol Y Castell

The visit demonstrated how carefully designed animal workshops can enrich classroom learning, support a wide range of learners, and create meaningful educational moments that stay with children long after the session ends.
