BEFORE YOU SAY YES TO A SNAKE
Your child is ready. You might have a few more questions.
Maybe they've been talking about royal pythons for months. They've watched the videos, learnt the facts and can already tell you exactly which morph they'd choose.
And maybe you're starting to think this could actually be a wonderful thing for them.
But you're also the grown-up who knows that bringing home an animal is a real commitment. You want to understand the feeding. The setup. The costs. The day-to-day care. What happens when you go on holiday. And, perhaps most importantly, what happens if your child loses interest.
The internet isn't always much help. One person says one thing, another says the opposite, and somehow an evening of research leaves you with more questions than you started with.
Royal Python Ready gives you something much simpler: an hour with people who live with, care for and work with these animals every day — where no question is silly and nobody is trying to sell you a snake.
YOUR PRIVATE SESSION
One hour. Real pythons. No silly questions.
01 — Meet a royal python
Get properly acquainted with the animal your child hopes to own. We'll talk honestly about temperament, size, lifespan, behaviour and what they're really like to live with.
02 — Learn everyday care
Heating, humidity, housing, cleaning, shedding and handling — we'll show you what good husbandry looks like in practice, without drowning you in jargon.
03 — Talk about feeding
We'll explain what royal pythons eat, how often they're fed and what feeding involves. Where appropriate, you may be able to observe a real feed, although our animals' welfare and normal feeding schedules always come first.
04 — Understand the setup
See the equipment you'll actually need, understand realistic setup and ongoing costs, and learn which things matter — and which things you don't need to be talked into buying.
05 — Ask the awkward questions
What if they won't eat? What about holidays? Other pets? Vets? What if your child loses interest? This is exactly the place to ask.
06 — Take the ReptileReady Challenge
We'll finish with a relaxed, child-friendly knowledge check to make sure the important stuff has landed — followed by their Royal Python Ready certificate.
Sometimes being ReptileReady means deciding not to get one.
We're not here to sell your family a snake. If you leave knowing that a royal python isn't right for you after all, we'll consider that just as successful.
YOU WON'T LEAVE EMPTY-HANDED
Everything you need for the next step.
Royal Python Ready isn't just an hour with us. We'll make sure you leave with something practical to refer back to when the excitement has settled and you're making decisions at home.
Your Royal Python Ready certificate
A personalised certificate recognising that your child has completed the session and demonstrated an age-appropriate understanding of responsible royal python care.
Your setup checklist
A straightforward guide to what you'll actually need before bringing a royal python home — so you can plan properly and buy with confidence.
Your first-weeks guide
Simple guidance for those slightly nerve-racking first weeks: settling in, feeding, handling, normal behaviour and knowing when to ask for help.
And if questions crop up afterwards, you're welcome in our free Family Reptile Hub — a judgement-free place for parents navigating reptile ownership.

FAQ
-
Royal Python Ready is designed primarily for children who are seriously interested in owning a royal python, rather than around a particular age. If you're unsure whether the session would suit your child, just ask us before booking.
-
Absolutely. In fact, we'd encourage the grown-ups who'll share responsibility for the animal to come along where possible. This is as much about helping your family feel prepared as it is teaching your child.
-
Not at all. Your child might already know every royal python fact under the sun — or you might both be starting from scratch. We'll meet you wherever you are.
-
Yes. Responsible, supervised interaction with our royal pythons is an important part of the session. As always, what we do will be guided by the animals themselves and their welfare on the day.
-
Possibly. Where appropriate, we'll offer the opportunity to observe a real feed. We can't guarantee this, as we won't alter an animal's normal feeding schedule simply to provide a demonstration.
-
No — that's rather the point. You can come while you're still deciding. We'd much rather help you explore the reality of ownership before you've bought an animal or spent hundreds of pounds on equipment.
-
Yes. We'll explain what you actually need, what to look for when choosing equipment and where it's worth spending properly. You'll also leave with a setup checklist to refer back to.

If your child is genuinely serious about owning a royal python, we think so. This isn't a general reptile experience: it's dedicated time for your family to learn, practise, ask questions and make a more confident decision before taking on a long-term commitment.
