ReptileReady™ Private Session Terms & Conditions
These terms apply to in-person ReptileReady™ private sessions provided by Scaly Safari. By making a booking, you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms.
1. What you're booking
ReptileReady™ private sessions are educational sessions designed to help children and their families understand the practicalities and responsibilities involved in keeping a particular reptile species.
Your booking includes the session and any resources specifically listed as included with the product at the time of purchase.
A booking does not include the purchase or supply of a reptile, enclosure or other equipment.
2. Session dates
Unless a specific date has been agreed before purchase, we'll contact you after booking to arrange a mutually suitable date and time.
If we're unable to agree a suitable date, we'll refund the amount you've paid in full.
Your booking is not tied to a particular date until that date has been agreed with Scaly Safari.
3. Children and supervision
ReptileReady™ sessions are designed for children to attend with a parent or responsible adult.
A responsible adult must remain present throughout the session and retains responsibility for the child at all times.
4. Animal interaction
Our animals' welfare always comes first.
While sessions are designed to include appropriate interaction with the relevant species, we cannot guarantee that a particular animal will be available or willing to participate on the day.
We may adapt or omit an activity where we believe this is necessary for the welfare of an animal or the safety and comfort of the people attending.
5. Feeding demonstrations
Some sessions may offer an opportunity to observe feeding.
Feeding demonstrations cannot be guaranteed. We will never alter an animal's appropriate feeding schedule or feed unnecessarily for the purpose of providing a demonstration.
6. What ReptileReady™ means
ReptileReady™ is an educational programme. Completing a session or receiving a certificate does not constitute a professional qualification, licence or formal certification of someone's ability to keep an animal.
Our aim is to help families make informed, responsible decisions.
Sometimes the best outcome of a session may be deciding that the species isn't currently right for your family.
7. Husbandry and advice
The information we provide is based on our experience, current understanding of good husbandry and the circumstances discussed during your session.
Reptile care continues to develop, and individual animals can have different needs.
Our guidance is educational and should not be considered veterinary advice. If an animal is unwell or you have concerns about its health, advice should be sought from an appropriately qualified veterinary professional.
8. Cancellations and rescheduling
If you need to change your session, please contact us as soon as possible.
We will make reasonable efforts to move your booking to another suitable date.
If Scaly Safari needs to cancel or postpone your session — including because of animal welfare, illness or circumstances beyond our reasonable control — we'll offer an alternative date. If we cannot agree one, you'll receive a full refund.
9. Allergies, accessibility and additional needs
Please let us know before your visit about anything that may affect your family's ability to participate safely or comfortably.
We'll always do our best to make reasonable adjustments and create a positive experience, although some activities may need to be adapted where safety or animal welfare requires it.
10. Photography
We will never assume permission to photograph or film your child for Scaly Safari's marketing.
If we'd like to take or use photographs or video, we'll ask for appropriate permission separately.
You're welcome to take personal photographs during your session where appropriate, provided this doesn't compromise animal welfare or interfere with the session.
11. Responsibility after your session
The decision to purchase or keep a reptile remains entirely with the parent/carer.
Scaly Safari cannot take responsibility for animals, equipment or purchasing decisions made after your session.
We strongly encourage families to continue researching, use reputable suppliers and seek appropriate veterinary advice whenever necessary.
12. Contact
If you have questions about your booking or these terms, please contact Scaly Safari using the contact details provided on our website.
