Calm Animal Sessions
Gentle, reptile (and invertebrate) based experiences for children who benefit from a calm, unhurried approach.
Calm Animal Sessions are quiet, gentle reptile experiences designed for children who benefit from a slower pace and in a calm, predictable home environment. These sessions are not therapy, but they are often valued by families seeking thoughtful, low-pressure ways for children to spend time with animals, guided by choice, comfort, and curiosity.
Calm Animal Sessions are delivered 1:1 (or for siblings), using a small number of carefully chosen reptiles and invertebrates (including lizards, snakes, and slow-moving creatures such as millipedes). Sessions are unhurried and gently structured, with clear boundaries and plenty of time for children to observe, ask questions, or engage at their own pace.
We regularly work with children who have additional learning needs and understand the importance of pacing, predictability, and choice within new experiences (and as parents of children with additional learning needs ourselves, and we know how important it is for experiences like this to feel safe, respectful, and genuinely optional — for children and families alike).
There is no expectation to touch or interact. Watching is always welcome, and any interaction is led by the child’s comfort and choice. Sessions are guided by an experienced handler, with animal welfare and emotional safety given equal priority throughout.
