Meaningful experiences with remarkable reptiles.

“Our animals are so incredible. Wouldn’t it be amazing if more people could experience them the way we do?”.

That was the moment Scaly Safari was born: when two reptile-lovers (Allen & Cerries) realised their combined collection of beloved creatures could really change the world.

What began as a local animal handling party service has now grown into something neither of us could have ever imagined. From teaching curriculum-aligned primary school workshops in London to radio appearances on the BBC, we have the privilege of sharing our love for these fascinating creatures with people from all walks of life. Every day, we make it our mission to change people’s perceptions about these often deeply-misunderstood creatures - and create meaningful experiences that help people remember what it means to be human.

Consent-led, welfare prioritised. (Always).

At the heart of our ethos are two main commitments:

  1. The welfare of our animals is the priority. No exceptions.

  2. Interaction with our animals is optional, never forced.

Animal Welfare

Our animals are not props: they are family members, and live at home with us. Absolutely everything we do is prefaced by one question: is the animal’s wellbeing and welfare being prioritised here? We are always striving to give our animals the best possible life, both at home and outside of their vivariums.

Consent-led Interaction

We deeply appreciate that not everyone shares our enthusiasm for these creatures. Our aim isn’t to force anyone to become a reptile lover: our aim is simply to offer opportunities for interaction, and the possibility for a perspective shift. Zero forcing. Zero judgement.

This is us (and Pumpkyn).

We’re Allen and Cerries: the humans that provide a never-ending supply of locusts for the real stars of the show.

Obviously, we both love animals (particularly the ones that are misunderstood). Allen is an ex-secondary teacher (with over a decade of experience in the classroom), and Cerries has a background in branding and design.

Allen is the one most likely to be doing the talking at the front, while Cerries is the one keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. (Allen thinks he’s the boss, and Cerries lets him think that).

There’s nothing either of us love more than seeing our animals happy and healthy, and sharing the joy they bring us to as many people as possible 🤍
